Prestea Huni-Valley MCE embarks on project achievements tour

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipality in the Western Region, Hon. Mozart Kweku Owuh has embarked on a one-day project achievements tour in the Assembly to have first-hand information on the level of progress of work achieved within two years of his administration and to identify problems confronting the people and initiate strategies for solving them.

He was accompanied by Head of Municipal Works Department, Mr. Scott, Municipal Works Engineer Mr. Osei Antwi, Assembly Members and NPP Constituency Executive Members who were invited to see at first-hand the progress of work done and ongoing by the Assembly.

Some of the developmental projects the group visited that were initiated by the Member of Parliament, Hon. Lawyer Mrs. Barbara Oteng-Gyasi and the Prestea/ Municipal Assembly are; Expansion of Prestea Government Hospital, renovation of Magistrate Court at Prestea and proposed site for the construction of an ultramodern court in Prestea.

The MCE, Mr. Mozart Kweku Owuh, told the entourage at the Prestea Government Hospital that, the hospital will as a matter of urgency see a total facelift in facilities.

"The Municipal Assembly and the Member of Parliament are in consultations to construct the second floor of the Out Patient Department (OPD), a new accident and emergency unit, ultra scan and consulting rooms have been earmarked for the hospital, the first phase of the children's ward expansion which was undertaken by the MP is completed and the current children's ward will be relocated to enable the next phase of expansion works to begin", he said.

At the Prestea Magistrate Court, the MCE said he was satisfied with the work done so far especially the extension of the records room.

“This court has never seen any renovation works since 2005 but today I am impress at the renovation works done, the court can now boast of tiled floor, modern ceiling, air-conditions at various offices, washrooms and furniture", he added.

Hon. Owuh expressed worry at the slow pace of work and charged the contractor to finish all works by end of May 2019.

He further hinted of the Assembly's plans to construct an ultramodern Magistrate Court complex with residence at Prestea and that work would soon start.

The MCE applauded Chief of Prestea Himan, Nana Nteboa Pra IV and Chief of Mbease Nsuta, Nana Adu Payin for their support towards the renovation works and provision of land for the construction of an ultramodern court and urged corporate institutions to emulate.

Interacting with the management and staff of the Prestea Government Hospital and magistrate court, Hon. Mozart Owuh urged them to work hard to improve on productivity as the MP and government is committed to delivering their campaign promises to the good people of Prestea and its environs.

The Administrator of the Prestea Government Hospital, Mr. Norbet Atiteh expressed his profound gratitude to the MP and the Assembly for coming to the aid of the hospital especially the expansion of the children ward.

"I have seen the plan of the proposed expansion works at the OPD and am optimistic the MP will keep to her words, I also plead with the MP and MCE to provide the hospital with new ear, eye and theatre equipments, this will reduce surgery times and improve comfort for surgeons", he said.

On her part, the Registrar of the Prestea Magistrate Court, Mrs. Irene Enim, praised the Assembly for the initiative.

She said the renovation work has created more efficient use of space and it will improve working comfort which will also increase productivity.
