Chief of Suisi Okwenya and Adadlikworsi, Kodjonya in the Lower Manya Krobo area, Nene Olepeme Sackinor Nanor I has marked his 7th anniversary on the throne with a call on political leaders to join him develop Okwenya
The Chief who said the past seven years had been characterized with reclaiming and safeguarding lost lands of the Okwenya stool said the period also saw the institution and implementation of many pro-poor interventions such as financial assistance offered to many needy people and others including sportsmen and women and students were assisted in various ways to pursue their interests.
Chief of Suisi Okwenya and Adadlikworsi, Kodjonya, Nene Olepeme Sackinor Nanor I on Friday, 18th October, 2019 celebrated 7 years on the throne. He ascended the throne at the age of 35 on the evening of October 2012.
The people of Suisi Okwenya and Adadlikworsi Kodjonya on Thursday, October 10, 2019, began a weeklong of celebrations to mark the 7th anniversary of the accession to the throne of the traditional leader, whose reign has been marked by various developmental projects including social change, particularly in domains such as pro-poor interventions.
The celebrations also witnessed many activities and parties with the venue for the grande durbar bedecked with beautiful paraphernalia on Friday, October 18 which marked the height of the celebrations.
The chief’s subjects turned out to cheer him during the colourful celebration to mark his 7th year commemoration on the throne.
The king, 42, ascended the throne on October, 2012 and Friday’s commemoration was full of glowing tributes from well-wishers including several chiefs who had come to witness the celebrations and wish him well.
The ceremony, attended by hundreds of subjects from around the traditional area, was held at the chief’s home at Kodjonya.
The chief was proud to be surrounded by men and women from different areas of Okwenya and witness their sincere efforts and great love as they celebrated Suisi Okwenya and Adadlikworsi Kodjonya and its accomplishments.
Nene Olepeme Sackinor Nanor I who disclosed several plans for the development of the Okwenya area invited the government, political leaders and investors to establish various developmental projects in the area as he was ready to offer lands for such purposes.
To him, establishing a mango processing factory in the area to produce mango concentrate would inure to the benefit of the several mango farmers in and around Yilo and Manya Krobo.
Nene Olepeme Sackinor Nanor I who was hopeful of a ready market for such product was equally expectant of the several employment opportunities such establishments would provide for the youth.
Aside building a befitting palace for the Chief and people of Okwenya, he also prioritizes settling of several boundary disputes between Yilo and Lower Manya Krobo which he said should be addressed to foster peace, security and development.
He expressed gratitude to various chiefs and traditional leaders, the people of Okwenya and the general public for their support throughout the occasion.
Notable chiefs and traditional leaders who graced the event included Nene Okpatakpla Sasraku II, Chief Of Manya/Aklomuase; Piengua Matse, Nene Tetteh Zogli III; Akwenor Matse, Nene Tetteh Odorkor Asare; Suisi Matse, Nene Angmor Owuoadjao; Dorm Matse, Nene Bediako Baah Muala; Djase of Adome-Djebiam, Nene Kpakpataku, Asawatse Bana, Asawatse Wisi Tetteh and Nana Ampem-Darko Tetteh IV, chief of Awutu.
The chief surprised his guests and the general public with handsome rewards for individuals he said, had been very loyal, committed and dedicated to his efforts at serving the people as well as their individual contributions to the people of Okwenya.
To honour these people, he donated 13 flatscreen TVs, four fridges, eight gas cookers, a laptop and nine pieces of wax prints.
These persons included: Weku matse Elias, .John Emadorme, Sipim Lam Obenu, Sipim Osantey, Sipim Angmor Owuoadjao, Otsam Emmanuel, Aku Tetteh, Dade Matse Tetteh Tsu, Abraham Sackinor, Kobby, Philip Dapaah and the late Papa Nomo.
The rest were the late Mame Akpetiyo, the late Asafoatse Teye Dakli, the late Nene Dormesiako II, Mr Joseph, Atuna Micheal, Mr. Okroh, Manye Adem Dorah, Odjao Koryo, Agnes Yofini Nanor and Nanor Prince and Princess.
