The Adabraka and the Akuapem Districts Young Adults’ Fellowship of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) on Monday organised a peace walk ahead of Election 2012.

The walk started from Ayi-Mensah to the Aburi Botanical Gardens in the Eastern Region.

Reverend Stephen Nii Lankwei Lawson, Adabraka District Minister of the PCG said the event was part of a fitness programme.

He explained that it was organised to remind the public of the need to prevent violence in the December polls.

Rev. Lawson said as the country celebrate Republic day, there was the need for Ghanaians to reflect on the message of the late Dr Kwame Nkrumah, first President of Ghana, that Republican status must bring happiness, prosperity, peace and unity.

He said as the country approached the December polls, it was the responsibility of Ghanaians to adhere to democratic principles to make the event peaceful .

Rev. Lawson appealed to political parties to sensitise their supporters on the need to avoid intemperate language that would create insecurity during and after the elections.

He advised the youth not to allow politicians to use them to cause violence since they are likely to face the consequences.**
