Kenyan U-17 to Train in Egypt for Ghana Match

Kenya national team will train in Egypt for two weeks to prepare for their under-17 African Youth Championship match against Ghana scheduled for December 21 at Kasarani.

While speaking at the team's camp at Kasarani, team manager Amphaer Apidi, who was taking the players through their paces yesterday, said the youths leave the country on November 29 and return on December 15.

"We want to give the boys a good exposure and prepare them well for the crucial match," Apidi said.

The Egpytian tour will be preceded by a regional international friendly against their Tanzanian counterparts on Saturday in Arusha. The team leave tomorrow for the Tanzanian town.

The team, coached by Tom Olaba, are programmed to meet Moi Golden Cup champions Kenya Pipeline in a local friendly today at 4pm.

Kenya eliminated Eritrea on 4-2 goal aggregate after beating them 3-1 in Nairobi and drawing 1-1 in Asmara, Eritrea, in the first round.

Kenya play Ghana in return match on January 12.

At the same time, all players have reported at the Stars training camp.

Bonventure Misiko and Hilary Omondi, all from Mumias Sugar, reported to the camp yesterday from their western Kenya base, according to the manager.

The team of 25 players consists of four players who feature for the under-23 side namely Francis Ochieng, Hilary Omondi, Calvin Otieno and Hassan Aden.

Those present yesterday were: Kevin Oluoch, Hesborn Odhiambo, Kevin Simiyu, George Ondari, Zacharia Kisekeli, Hassan Aden, Joshua Ademba, George Karanja, Joseph Waweru, Macdonald Maiga, Aggrey Ongoli and Wilson Anyona.

Others were Anthony Katana, Kevin Opiyo, Kennedy Opiyo, Christopher Liswa, Godfrey Kokoyo, Samuel Kivui, Calvin Otieno, Raphael Omondi, Abdulrahaman Ali and Francis Ochieng.
