Ghana midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu has hinted that he is ready to hang his boots at the international level if it becomes obvious that he has no role to play in the future Black Stars.

The former Asante Kotoko midfielder last played for the Black Stars in 2017 and has recently returned to full fitness after being sidelined for a year due to health reasons.

Faced with the prospect of being snubbed by new Black Stars Coach Charles Akonnor, Agyemang-Badu who is now contracted to Italian Serie A side Hellas Verona has said he will be at peace with the development that he has no future with the national side.

According to the 29-year-old, he is content with his exploits in Ghana colors and is ready for retirement if it becomes an immediate option.

“I need to concentrate on playing games now, due to my long spell out. It’s everyone’s dream to represent their country.

“But to be frank I’ve played for the Black Stars for close to ten years. I’ve won both the U-20 AFCON and World Cup,” he said in an interview with Citi Sports.

“I’ve played five AFCONs, twice as a finalist and three times as a semifinalist, and also played at the FIFA World Cup.

“I’ve played 86 times for my country and scored 11 goals, one of which was nominated for the Puskas Award.

“So if I don’t get a call up to the national team again, I’m still very proud of myself,” he added.
