Former coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Steve Polack, has hinted of a possible return to the Ghana Premier League despite leaving the country after his contract with the Porcupine Warriors was terminated for failing to guide the club beyond the Group phase of the CAF Confederation Cup.

The English trainer who won last year’s MTN FA Cup trophy, says his firing at Kotoko was misguided and that if he ever return to Ghana, he would like to work for a club that has a proper plan and vision.

“I am a bit sad that I am leaving but I feel that I need to go home, spend time with my family and get refreshed mentally and physically. Who knows? I could be back here in a couple of weeks.

But if I were to come back here to Ghana, it has to be a club that has a vision and a strategy. Not one for just a season but for two, three, four or five years. I want to work for a club that is ambitious and not one where you are told you have to win today or you are out.”

When asked what he made of the situation at Asante Kotoko, he said: “I do not know what the plan is at Kotoko. They need to be asked that question.”

Polack endured a turbulent time at Kotoko, and despite winning the FA Cup against bitter rivals Hearts of Oak in Tamale, he will be best remember for his narrow escape from death when the Kotoko team had a motor accident on their way back to Kumasi after a league game against Inter Allies in Accra.

That accident which claimed one life saw Polack severely injured. But he returned from the trauma and led Kotoko to fifth place in the league and crown it with the FA Cup trophy.

He was however sacked after Kotoko was knocked out of the CAF Confederation Cup by CARA Club of Brazzaville.

The nature of his dismissal and how he saw things being done at Kotoko clearly must have upset Polack who spoke to reporters at the Kotoko International Airport in Accra on Sunday as he left the country.
