Awo Kekeli, a member of the NDC Communications Team, has paid an emotional tribute to the late Former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, revealing that her journey into politics was inspired by the iconic leader.

Speaking in a heartfelt reflection, Awo Kekeli explained that Nana Konadu’s boldness, charisma, and unwavering commitment to women’s empowerment motivated her to step into the political arena. She noted that as a young woman coming up, Nana Konadu stood out as a symbol of strength and confident qualities she hoped to mirror in her own public service career.

According to Awo Kekeli, the former First Lady’s establishment of the 31st December Women’s Movement played a central role in awakening political consciousness among thousands of women across Ghana, including herself.

Through this movement, Nana Konadu championed women’s rights, education, and economic independence at a time when female leadership was far from mainstream. Awo Kekeli emphasized that these initiatives demonstrated not only vision but also courage attributes that shaped her decision to contribute her voice to national discourse and be part of a political tradition that prioritizes social justice and gender equality.

For her, Nana Konadu was more than a political figure, she was a mentor from afar, a role model whose footsteps paved the way for countless women to participate meaningfully in governance and public life. Awo Kekeli concluded by saying that the late First Lady’s impact will forever remain a guiding light for women determined to make a difference.
