According to Nana Akomea, vice chairman of the 2024 Bawumia Campaign Team, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) anticipated former President John Mahama's victory.
He claimed that this was based on internal research done by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in advance of the election on December 7.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer was ahead by 10%, according to research done in February 2024, according to the Managing Director of the State Transport Corporation (STC).
Nana Akomea disclosed this on Accra-based Metro TV.
It dropped to roughly 2% by September or October. As a result, we felt really secure. We knew there would be a lot of discontent and disinterest among our followers since it was a new movement.
Otherwise, it would only be a projection, and so on. He stated, "We knew that the monthly poll clearly showed us [Mahama's victory], and it's really massive for a massive 2 million people to stay away. We have to find out why."
On Monday, December 9, the chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) formally announced the results of the 2024 election, declaring Mr. Mahama the victor.
He polled 6,328,397 votes, representing 56.55 percent of the vote while Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia secured 4,657,304 votes or 41.61 percent of the total votes cast.
The election turnout and the margin of victory have left the NPP seeking answers to their defeat.
