The incumbent and MP-elect for the Ningo-Prampram seat, Sam George, has reiterated his support for President-elect John Mahama, saying that his leadership is crucial to Ghana's democracy's continued existence.
Sam George emphasised Mahama's shown ability to handle governance issues and protect democratic institutions in an interview with Alfred Ocansey on The Key Points. "Ghana needs a leader with the experience to safeguard our democracy and an understanding of the complexities of governing in these crucial times. John Mahama is that leader," he said.
Only a week has passed since Mahama's resounding win in the presidential election, in which he received 56.55% of the vote, confirming his comeback to power. Many have seen the triumph as Ghanaians' call for stability and advancement.
Sam George's remarks reflect the general opinion of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and a large number of people who believe Mahama has been a stabilising influence in Ghana's democratic transition. As Mahama is ready to lead the country, many think this endorsement and his election victory could increase trust in his ability to lead.
