Five supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Jaman North Constituency narrowly avoided harm when the pickup truck they were traveling in caught fire.
The group was traveling from Sampa, the constituency capital, to Seketia to conduct a door-to-door political campaign when the incident occurred. Although the cause of the fire remains unclear, reports suggest that the pickup truck, branded with Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s “It is possible” campaign slogan and equipped with a public address system, a generator, and personal items such as mobile phones and money, was completely destroyed in the blaze. Emmanuel Frempa Amponsah, an NPP polling agent and one of the passengers, explained that they noticed smoke coming from the rear of the vehicle during their journey. The driver stopped to investigate, but the vehicle quickly caught fire after they exited, destroying all belongings inside. Mr. Amponsah added that the party has reported the incident to the police for further investigation.
