Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has petitioned Speaker Alban Bagbin to reconvene Parliament and tackle pressing matters. This comes after the House was adjourned indefinitely due to a lack of representation from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on November 7.

Afenyo-Markin's petition urges Speaker Bagbin to exercise his constitutional mandate and recall Parliament. However, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has signaled its intent to boycott any emergency session, citing concerns about potential corrupt practices by the ruling NPP ahead of Ghana's general election.

Several key government business items remain unresolved, including the approval of two Supreme Court Judge nominees and tax waivers exceeding $350 million. There are also pending bills, such as the Architects Registration Bill 2024 and the Environmental Protection Agency Bill 2024 .
