Otto Addo, the head coach of the Black Stars, and his backroom staff are due several months' worth of unpaid salary, according to confirmation from the Ghana Football Association (GFA). GFA Communications Director Henry Asante Twum told Joy FM that the Ministry of Youth and Sports, not the GFA, is in charge of paying the technical team. Salary arrears exist, however I'm not sure how long they've been there. We owe him [Otto Addo] several months, and the backroom crew is equally responsible. He explained that although the Ministry is in charge of these payments, he was unable to give more information regarding the arrears.

The question of unpaid salary raises additional doubts about Otto Addo's future as head coach of the Black Stars. This comes after Ghana failed to earn a spot in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, which was the country's ninth consecutive failure to qualify. With no formal decision yet, the GFA's Executive Council is currently split on whether to keep Addo. Asante Twum emphasized the value of close collaboration with the Ministry, particularly with reference to possible severance benefits or contract terminations: Since the Ministry, not the GFA, is ultimately responsible for paying the coach's debt if he is fired, there is no reason not to engage the Ministry.

The public has been reassured by the GFA that it is committed to finding solutions for problems that impact the Black Stars and other national teams. In order to solve the issues and guarantee improved performance going forward, stakeholders will be involved in the development of long-term strategies.
