A raging fire destroyed their apartment at Axim in the Nzema East Municipality of the Western Region, killing three children and injuring three more to differing degrees.
Additionally, properties worth thousands of Ghanaian cedis were damaged by the fire.
The deceased, whose identities have not yet been revealed, are thought to have been five to ten years old.
According to Lord Listowel, a local resident who verified the story to Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson, host of Connect FM's Omanbapa Morning Show, a family of six was inside the apartment when the fire started.
The final child and their parents lived, but the three other kids, who range in age from five to ten, were completely destroyed by fire. The surviving are receiving care at the Axim Government Hospital right now, but their prognosis is not promising," he continued.
Kwame Asare, who also suffered severe injuries, the father of the children that died, said he was powerless at the time of the occurrence.
After we finished our meal, we all retired to bed at around nine o'clock. I assumed it was thunder when I heard a rumbling at midnight, but all of a sudden everything was dark and smoke-filled. My spouse and a child were saved by me. I raced outside and began yelling for help because I was helpless and had burn wounds, but it was too late. He pointed to the three other youngsters who had already perished from burns.
For additional examination, the three children's remains have since been placed at the Axim Government Hospital.
