Ghanaian social media users have praised Burkina Faso's President, Ibrahima Traore, for the respect he showed Ghana's Vice President, Professor Jane Naana Opoku, at the inauguration on January 7.

The Burkinabe military officer, who was one of the most prominent leaders invited to the program, made news for two reasons during the gathering.

First, there was a lot of talk on social media about his decision to greet President John Dramani Mahama while still carrying his rifle.

Ghanaians protested that he should have been disarmed before meeting with the President.

Traore, on the other hand, made news for the right reasons when he was seen removing his military cap before receiving the Vice President, Professor Opoku Agyemang.

Netizens said his action showed he was a respectful man and properly trained to show respect to women.

“A man born of a woman must show respect 🔥if it is easy go run am,” one user commented.

Another wrote: “A respectful man…He obviously knows she’s older than him 👏😍”
