A prominent member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and a well-respected figure in Ghanaian politics, Professor Kwabena Frimpong Boateng, has stated that he is not very excited about the general elections that will take place in 2024. The well-known scholar and former Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation Minister said candidly in an interview with Joy News TV that he was not excited about the elections because his "real party" was not represented on the ballot.
Given his longstanding involvement with the NPP, many were surprised by Frimpong Boateng's response when the interviewer asked if he was thrilled about the impending elections. He confessed, "I am not excited about the elections," "My real party is not on the ballot."
Given that the NPP is one of Ghana's most powerful political parties and that Frimpong Boateng has been a leading member for many years, his remarks caused some concern. He did, however, provide an explanation for his disenchantment with the party's current situation, pointing to internal conflicts that have made him feel alienated. His words, "The NPP is not united," "I don’t feel like I’m part of it anymore."
The professor elaborated on his annoyances by mentioning the legal disputes inside his own party. "Four of my own party members have taken me to court after I mentioned their names in a report about fighting environmental terrorism," he said. His feeling of alienation from the NPP has been deepened by this legal dispute, which has made him doubt the party's adherence to his core beliefs.
