Dennis Miracles Aboagye, the spokesperson for Dr. Bawumia's campaign team, has urged the National Democratic Congress (NDC) leadership to take quick measures to control its members following a series of worrying episodes that have resulted in violence and even fatalities. Miracles expressed his displeasure with several NDC members in a recent Facebook post.
According to a GhanaWeb story, he cited a particularly shocking incident in which a person was allegedly beaten to death amid a chaotic situation involving fertilizer looting in Akomadan, Offinso North District. This incident apparently involves NDC members and has generated severe worries about the country's political climate.
Miracles condemned these heinous acts unequivocally. He said, "Surely, this isn't right..."The NDC leadership must call their people to order immediately. "You can't kill yourselves for victory." His statements indicate a strong concern for the safety and well-being of all residents, particularly at this sensitive time in the political landscape. The mayhem did not end with one event; reports stated that two additional people were stabbed, and the NADMO headquarters was ransacked during the unrest.
The spokesperson emphasized that the other party had already conceded defeat in a timely way, which should have helped to reduce tensions and avert such catastrophic events. He highlighted that these violent acts do not reflect true democracy, but rather a collapse in order and decorum. Miracles urged NDC officials to act quickly to restore peace among their supporters, saying, "Your opponent has conceded defeat, and he did so in a timely enough manner to diffuse tension and prevent such unnecessary deaths."
Miracles' call for calm comes at a critical juncture as the country conducts its political process. He emphasized the necessity of remaining civil and respectful toward one another, despite of political disagreements. The recent events have aroused concerns about how political competitiveness may occasionally become violent, with major ramifications for both individuals and communities.
Miracles stated unequivocally that such behavior is not acceptable in any democratic country. He remarked, "Let us demonstrate leadership by calling these NDC Hoodlums to order. This is not democracy. This is anarchy, and it has no place in this country."
