ITWomen Africa Embarks on a Nationwide Digital Skills Training for Women & Girls

ITWomen Africa Foundation has begun yet another project amongst the many objectives set by the organisation in fulfilling its mandate under the UN SDGs 5 & 9 of equipping women and girls in the formal and informal sectors with digital skills to enhance their careers and boost their business.

The training is targeting all women and girls associations, groups, and organisation in the formal and informal sectors across the entire country. This in-house digital training exercise took off on 14th July 2022 with the Ghana Hairdressers and Beauticians Association (GHABA) for the Odorkor Zone and it will be replicated in other zones within the GHABA association in the upcoming days.

Other women’s organisations signed up for this training is the African Women’s Entrepreneurship Program (AWEP). It is critical to engage and train more girls and women in digital skills. Technology plays a role in all kinds of careers both in the formal and informal sectors. The ability to acquire tech skills will enhance their personal and professional journeys.

Having the foreknowledge of the statistic of women and girls’ participation in ICT globally and in Ghana, ITWomen Africa will partner with institutions to conduct these training sessions free of charge.

The collaboration with these women’s organisations is to equip their members with digital skills for their daily and professional lives. Encourage the women's participation in ICT usage and be able to incorporate some digital skills in their work whiles igniting the desire and harness digital skills in them
