Godwin is accused of killing his master and then dumping his body in a well.
The incident occurred at Imafon community in Akure South Local Government Area of the state.
The problem started when the deceased, a POP ceiling repair specialist, smashed the suspect's phone on the ground during an argument, prompting the suspect to attack the deceased in retaliation.
Odey Julius Ogbaji, the deceased's elder brother, alleged that Joseph's body was discovered four days earlier in a well where he (the deceased) and the apprentice had gone to work.
The deceased contacted me in the morning on Tuesday last week and we spoke; on Wednesday I tried to call him but I couldn't get through, so I assumed he had a dead battery.
It wasn't until Saturday that I received a call from one of my younger brothers to say that attempts to contact the deceased had failed.
The deceased's apprentice was then contacted. When they found the boy, they asked him where his master was. He replied that his boss had woken him up in the night, taken his phone, smashed it on the floor and started beating him before telling him to go back to sleep.
He claimed that he made the decision to leave the next day. So we asked him how he would leave the site after waking up without seeing his employer. He claimed that he thought his master had gone to the toilet before leaving.
When we looked at the phone, he claimed that the dead man had broken it on the floor, but there was no damage to it.
He also switched off the phone and made no further reports.
The suspect has been arrested and is currently being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Department, CID, at the police headquarters in Akure.
