The police have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Akua Serwaa Kyei, an adult female, on 3 August 2023 in Atwima Bebu, Ashanti Region.
According to the spouse of the deceased, he returned home on August 3, 2023 at approximately 5:30 p.m. and discovered the victim unconscious in the backyard of their home. He rushed her to the hospital, but she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
In addition, he claimed that their living room and bedroom had been ransacked, and a television had been taken.
"A preliminary investigation of the crime site by the police crime scene unit revealed that no doors or windows had been broken into in the residence.
"Also, upon examination of the corpse at the hospital, no signs of violence or gunshot wounds were discovered. As the investigation continues, the body has been transferred to the mortuary for preservation and postmortem', the police explained in a statement.
The police have visited the deceased's family, and we are collaborating with them to get to the root of the matter and bring those responsible to justice.
The Inspector-General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, called the family and assured them that a comprehensive investigation would be conducted.
A clinical psychologist from the police department has also been assigned to assist the family during these difficult times.
