25-year-old man drowns in Volta river at Adidome

A young man, said to be about 25 years old, has reportedly drowned in the Volta River at a popular beach resort called Eli Beach at Adidome in the Volta Region.
It is alleged that the deceased, Goka Selorm, had gone to the resort with a companion to 'kill time' at about 5 o'clock on Thursday when the terrible tragedy occurred.
According to sources, they had been warned by resort security not to swim in the river.
A short time later, the barmaid sent a distress call about the drowning to the security guard who was out running errands.
According to reports, the incident took place in a deep spot, which may have contributed to the unexpected death.
It was too late by the time everyone realised he was in danger, an eyewitness told Citi News.
Goka Selorm is the second of his parents' two children.
The Adidome District Hospital morgue has received the body.
