A passenger believed to be in his 60s has died on a commercial truck travelling from Kumasi in the Ashanti Region to Mankessim in the Central Region.

According to information obtained by Kasapa News Yaw Boagyan, the unidentified person was brought to the truck station in the afternoon of Friday, 3 March 2023 and boarded a Benz Sprinter bus with registration number As 1965-12 while appearing healthy.

He held a piece of paper with a telephone number printed on it as he sat in the first row of seats directly behind the driver.

When the driver stopped at Assin Fosu halfway through the journey at the request of several passengers, the deceased, who had apparently been quiet throughout the journey, did not get off to relieve himself or stretch his legs.

A hawker, who had been asked by a passenger to buy bread, approached the vehicle and noticed that something was wrong with the deceased as the journey continued. He was standing at the window. The person appeared to be dead, she told the driver.

The driver stopped and went to check on the man. Only the deceased and the driver remained on the bus after the other passengers fled in terror and boarded other buses to continue their journey.

Upon arrival in Mankessim, the driver reported the incident to the police for further investigation. While the police conducted their investigation, the body of the deceased was kept at the Saltpond Government Hospital.

Curiously, several calls to the deceased's phone number have gone unanswered.

Police have therefore appealed to the public for help in locating the deceased's family.
