Responding to a Fulani herdsman's claim that a farmer had shot and killed his cattle, he said the SWAT team had fired about 15 bullets to force the deceased out for interrogation.
The government establishes a cattle ranch in the Afram Plains to combat the Fulani threat.
To keep the Fulani herdsmen out, some angry citizens have also built a barrier around the town.
A shop owned by the Fulani was also burnt down in retaliation.
The District Police Command and the District Security Council (DISEC) are currently meeting to discuss the incident, which is also being investigated.
