Sylvester Tetteh, Member of Parliament for Bortianor-Ngleshie Amanfro, has defected from the Alan Kyerematen camp to support Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the November 4 presidential election of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Hon. Sylvester Tetteh was a steadfast leader of the Alan campaign team who pledged unwavering support for his cause to become the party's flagbearer.

However, Alan Kyerematen unexpectedly dropped out of the race, citing intimidation of his polling agents and favoritism by the party leadership as reasons for his withdrawal.

As the NPP prepares for its presidential primary, Hon. Sylvester Tetteh says he believes Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is the best candidate to lead the party into the 2024 general elections.

In an interview DailyNewsGhana monitored on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' show, he said: "Moving on, among the four candidates, I think Dr. Bawumia is our surest bet. That is why I'm rallying everybody that let's support him; the party is going to elections. So if Alan is no longer contesting, we don't go for elections? We have to go for elections. I have to make a choice. I have constituents; I have a vote,"

According to him, his decision to join the Bawumia campaign train is motivated by Alan's withdrawal and the fact that he is an NPP stalwart who must still support a candidate to lead the party.

As a result, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who he believes is the best candidate among those running in the November 4 election.
