To strengthen the defence of Ghana's territorial seas, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Tuesday unveiled the National Integrated Maritime Strategy (NIMS).
The policy was introduced by Akufo-Addo at the start of the two-day International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference in Accra, the capital of Ghana.
According to the president, safeguarding Ghana's territorial waters is essential due to their significance for the country's economy, environment, and security.
Additionally, he stated that in order to defend Ghana's territorial waters as well as its commercial and security interests in the face of maritime threats in the Gulf of Guinea, the nation needs a navy.
He claimed the administration understood the need for a well-funded and technologically advanced navy to do that, adding that the nation had begun supplying the navy with drones, coastline
