ABA Fuseini in trouble as 7 others prepare to unseat him

The Member of Parliament for Sagnarigu, Alhaji ABA Fuseini is set to face a very stiff competition from at least seven other candidates at the upcoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary primaries.

While most of the seven have already announced their intention to contest the Sagnarigu MP, this portal can confirm that some of them who have not made their decision public have started meeting delegates to disclose their intentions to them.

Some have also formed their campaign teams in earnest to wrestle power from Alhaji Fuseini.

The seven candidates include the party’s National Account Manager, Atta Issah who has already disclosed his intention to contest the NDC’s primaries and has also been already tipped by many as one of the frontrunners in the impending primaries.

Other names include Issah Baba, the Assembly Member of Sagnarigu, Alhaji Mohammed Aminu Adam, Northern Regional Director of Elections of the NDC and Alhaji Abdul Karim Barron, a business man.

The rest are Dr Bukari Hamza, Ahamad Yakubu and Majeed Borga.

Reports suggest the number may increase as some other persons are still engaging community members to weigh their chances.

There is sharp division in the constituency over whether or not the NDC MP has lived up to expectations.

Supporters of Alhaji Fuseini argue that the MP has undertaken widespread development projects in the constituency but the party has failed to market and communicate his achievements well.

They say that his performance in Parliament and the National Communication Team of the NDC has been outstanding, hence the need for him to be retained.

His critics however say that the MP has lost touch with his constituents and has picked up unnecessary quarrels with many party people.

They claim that Alhaji Fuseini has done little to alleviate the challenges in the area, arguing that aside proverbs, the MP has no development projects he can boast of.

This, they note is the reason why the NPP’s Felicia Tettey won over 40 ballot boxes in the constituency, something they stressed is unprecedented.

His critics add that after serving three terms in office, Alhaji ABA Fuseini has to make way for others serve the constituency.

With the number of candidates already showing interest in his position on the high, one wonders if the outspoken NDC Legislator will survive the onslaught of his challengers.
