The Northern Regional Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed his disappointment at the decision to remove Tamale South MP, Haruna Iddrisu as Minority Leader.
Alhaji Gbewaa said the decision to remove Mr Iddrisu as Minority Leader is making the main opposition party unpopular in the Northern Region, the home region of the deposed Minority Leader.
The Northern Regional Vice Chairman of the NDC said the decision was untimely and must be taken a look at again.
Alhaji Gbewaa was speaking to journalists on Saturday in response to growing calls on the leadership of the party to make their positions known on the matter.
He called on leadership of the party to reconsider its decision in the best interest of the party.
“The decision by the national executives are to change our party’s leadership in parliament is untimely. They should take a second look at it. It is making the NDC unpopular in our region. Since the announcement, there have been agitations by youth in the region” he said.
The main opposition party in a letter signed by its General Secretary, Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey said Adjumako MP and current ranking member on the Finance Committee Cassiel Ato Forson will replace Haruna Iddrisu as the Minority leader.
The decision of the party has been met with mixed reactions from within and outside the party.
