On Tuesday afternoon, news about the change of NDC leadership in parliament broke with many news portals and social media carrying the story.
A letter written to the Speaker of Parliament to that effect informing him of the changes has been in circulation on the internet all-day.
Interestingly, when the Upper West Regional Communication Officer, Issah Kantagyere, was contacted by a local radio station - Sungmaale FM - to throw more light on the move, he expressed doubt over the veracity of the letter.
He indicated he didn't know whether indeed the letter which he also saw on social media was actually coming from the party and was therefore hesitant to comment on it.
Pushed further by the host of Bongara, Ahmed Sanyuor, Issah Kantagyere insisted he knew nothing about its authenticity and was waiting for the outcome of a National Executives Committee meeting to be able to comment on the issue.
"I can't say anything about the letter for now. Where did you see it (the letter)? Is it not on social media? That's where i also saw it. Anybody else could have written the letter and make it look as if it was signed by the General-Secretary. I need to be sure it's coming from the party before I'm able to say something on it. As an elected Communication Officer, whatever I say must represent the position of the party. I don’t have to say something that may go contrary to the position of the party. A National Executives Committee meeting is currently in session and will end at 6:pm. We shall get the needed information after the meeting," he insisted.
Many NPP callers who phoned into the programme said the answer given by the Communication Officer is an indication he is not in control of affairs of the Communication arm of the opposition NDC in the region.
