Police Inspector interdicted for negligence
Inspector Sulemana Adam, a Police Officer stationed with the Rapid Deployment Force in Takoradi has been interdicted over what the Police say is his negligence in leaving behind his service rifle in a commercial vehicle.
This was contained in a Police statement by its Public Affairs Unit of the outfit from Takoradi in the Wetern Region.
The statement signed by Superintendent of Police, Olivia E. T. Adiku, Head of Public Affairs, Western Region, dated January 28, 2023, said the rifle which had been left in the commercial vehicle has since been returned to the outfit by the driver of the vehicle who also alleged the officer had extorted money from him.
"The Police administration has interdicted a Police Inspector for negligently leaving a service rifle in a commercial vehicle. The rifle has since been returned by the driver of the said driver who also alleged that the Inspector had extorted money from him," the statement read in part.
He is said to have been referred to the Police Professional Standards Burea (PPSB) to make way for thorough probe into the matter.
"The interdicted officer, Sulemana Adam, stationed with the Rapid Deployment Force, Takoradi, has been referred to the Police Professional Standars Bureau (PPSB) to allow for thorough investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident," it added.
The Police also said that both the driver and the Police officer are currently assisting with the investigations.
