The Thai people do not sweat the up and down fluctuations of the Baht the way Ghanaians sweat the gyrations of the cedi. When the Baht falls tourists from around the world flock into Bangkok, Pataya, Phuket and other hotspots in the country.

Bangkok is the most visited city in the world mostly because of the cheap currency. You can get a 5 star hotel for half of what it costs in Accra because the currency is cheap and tourists love that.

Ghanaians are upset at the plight of their falling currency because they depend so much on imports. Thais don't need any fancy factories to process the agricultural products. They use the sun to dry fruit, simple packaging to shrink wrap the dried fruit for sale and export.

I was amazed by how Thais make so much use from the ordinary coconut. Coconut juice is now big business in most supermarkets in the west but every bit of the coconut is used for something. The shell is used for making trinkets and even a chandelier, a locally made stove uses the husk as fuel, the fruit(white part) is used to make everything from sugar, pan cake, oil, lotion, flour etc.

Ghanaians should embrace the falling cedi and find ways to make lemonade out of lemon.
