On December 18, 2022, Rugby League Uganda formally launched the sport of Rugby League in their country. The historic event's grand opening was held at the Kids of Africa Swiss Children's Village in Kawuku Bwerenga, 4 kilometers off the Entebbe Road. At 9:00 AM, a training session was held for the Kids of Africa and other interested parties.
The next event was a 9-aside exhibition rugby league match. Male and female players from the founding clubs (Whales Bwarenga RLC, Saza WRL XIL, Musoto RLC XIll, and Busesa Community RLC) took part in the matches, which were overseen by Fortunate Irankunda, Isaac, Lucky, and Isebella, four highly trained RLU officials.
Select A (Men) and Select B (Men) played their first game of the day, with the former prevailing 16-12.

In the second game, Select A's female team defeated Select B by a score of 16 to 0.
