Famed National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) quiz mistress, Dr Elsie Effah Kaufmann sent a radio studio into fits of laughter after she was asked to take on her own show's hardest segment live on air.
In a resurfaced snippet from an interview with host Bola Ray on Starr FM, sighted by GhanaWeb on August 30, 2026, the Associate Professor was surprised with a mock replica of the NSMQ's dreaded "Problem of the Day."
The "Problem of the Day" (Round 3) carries a maximum of 10 points and is notorious for pushing even the brightest high school contestants to their limits.
Producers placed a pen, question paper, and answer sheet directly in front of her, giving her a strict two-minute countdown to solve it.
However, instead of a frantic attempt to act on the challenge, Dr Kaufmann simply sat back with a calm composure with a broad smile, watching the clock tick down without touching the paper.
When Bola Ray asked why she hadn't attempted the problem, the quiz mistress hilariously noted that she had a strategy.
"Because I have enough points from the previous rounds. The whole thing is a game, so, you strategise, you decide when to come in and where to ignore the question. So, I’m taking the zero here and I’ll wait for the riddles," Dr Kaufmann replied.
Her response sent the studio and the audience into fits of laughter while delighting fans of the national tournament.
