'He bought pants for my wife; she wore them every Sunday' - Confusion as pastor 'snatches' man's wife
Godwin Edegbe from Hohoe in the Volta Region has taken his wife, Fidelia, with whom he has two children, to a live television programme over alleged infidelity involving a man of God.
According to Godwin Edegbe, he has been married to his wife since 2012 but her behaviour reportedly changed after she started associating with a prophet identified as Prophet Freeman.
He alleged that the pastor had an affair with his wife and her sister, which he claims eventually led to the breakdown of his marriage.
Speaking on Lawson Afisem on Lawson TV, a television programme that addresses domestic issues, on August 31, 2026, Godwin said, “A pastor has had an affair with my wife and my wife’s sister and because of that, she said she is no longer interested in the marriage.
“I go to church with my wife but we had some issues in our marriage, so we took the matter to the pastor. The pastor told her that what she was doing was not right. Because of that, she left the church and started attending another church where the prophet worships.
“Later, I realised that their conversations were becoming excessive and I confronted her about it. But she told me that he was a man of God, so he could not do such a thing. One day, while we were preparing to go to church, I noticed that my wife had a pair of pants that she said the pastor had bought for her. Every Sunday, that was the pair of pants she wore to church,” he said.
Godwin further alleged that his wife later started preparing breakfast for the pastor every Sunday morning.
“Later, she started preparing breakfast for the pastor every Sunday morning. I reported the issue to her brother and he warned her, so she stopped doing it…I travelled to Accra and in my absence, when she went to church, I do not know what the pastor told her but she moved from my house to her mother’s house. Her mother called me and asked why she was there, whether we had issues or had fought. I told her that we had not fought.”
According to Godwin, about six months later, his wife allegedly left the matrimonial home completely and stopped returning.
He further alleged that his wife later planned to meet the said pastor at a hotel, where some members of her family reportedly caught them together.
He also claimed that the pastor had previously had an affair with his wife’s sister and was caught by members of the family.
“My wife accused me of trying to sleep with someone in the house. The lady was bathing, and I mistakenly entered the bathroom while I was on the phone. That was all that happened. She also accused me of having HIV and said she would no longer remain married to me.”
Godwin added that his brother recently informed him that his wife had brought drinks and a ring to indicate that she had divorced him.
“According to what I was told, the pastor had initially had an affair with my wife’s sister and was caught by some members of her family.

“So, when my wife went to the hotel room with the pastor, some of her family members got information about it and followed her. They allegedly caught her with the pastor,” he said.
He added, “Last Friday, my brother told me that my wife had brought drinks and a ring and said that she had divorced me two weeks earlier.”
Godwin said he appeared on the programme because he wanted to seek clarity and resolve the issues surrounding the breakdown of his marriage.
The woman, however, denied the allegations and said she could not comment on the matter when contacted on the show.
