Watch as Chinese businessman struggles to swear oath during enstoolment as chief
A Chinese businessman, Zheng Xiangming, struggled to swear the oath of office during his enstoolment as Nene Asumadzo I, leaving those gathered at the ceremony amused.
Zheng Xiangming, Chairman of Greenhouse Group, was enstooled as a chief at a ceremony attended by a number of guests.

During the oath-taking, the new chief initially attempted to repeat the words in English but struggled to clearly pronounce some of them, including his stool name.
A video of the ceremony sighted by GhanaWeb shows him holding the traditional sword as he attempted to repeat the oath after the official leading the process.
He eventually switched to Chinese after a translator appeared to interpret the English oath for him.
The chief was then able to repeat the oath in Chinese, appearing more comfortable with the language. His difficulty with the English oath drew laughter and surprise from those gathered at the ceremony.

After completing the oath, Nene Asumadzo I, dressed in kente and a traditional chief’s crown, was ushered to his seat to formally begin his role as chief.
The moment has since attracted attention online, with the video of the unusual oath-taking circulating on social media.
