Dear GhanaWeb: A stranger told me to cancel my engagement, now I'm scared

Dear GhanaWeb,

Three days ago, something happened to me that I honestly don't know how to explain. I'm a 34-year-old man, and in three weeks, I'm supposed to have my engagement ceremony with the woman I love.

That night, I was in a car when an older woman joined and sat right next to me. From the moment she entered, something about her felt strange.

She smelled unusual; she was wearing a strange outfit with a scarf, and she didn't say a single word throughout the journey.

At one point, the mate asked her where she was getting down, but she didn't answer. She just gave him money and remained silent.

When I eventually got to my destination around 11 pm and told the mate I was getting down, she got down too. That's when I started feeling uncomfortable.

It was a lonely road, and I had to walk home. As I started walking, I noticed she was following behind me.

She was walking slowly, so I decided to walk faster. But every time I looked back, it seemed like she was somehow closer than she should have been, even though she appeared to be walking at the same pace.

I got scared and decided to run. The moment I took off, I suddenly became dizzy. It was so strange that I had to stop.

When I turned around, she was standing right in front of me. I can't properly describe what happened next. I fell to the ground. I couldn't scream and I couldn't even think clearly.

She leaned towards me and said something I'll never forget: "Cancel your engagement ceremony. If you don't, you won't live to see that day."

Then she simply turned around and walked away in the direction we'd come from. I've been thinking about it ever since.

Who was this woman? Why did she know about my engagement? Was it just a terrifying coincidence? Did someone send her? Is there something I'm missing?

Part of me knows I shouldn't let a stranger's words control my life. But another part of me keeps thinking, what if she was warning me about something I don't know?

I love my woman. I don't want to lose her, and I don't want to live in fear either. I haven't told anyone because I don't even know how to explain what happened without sounding crazy.

My engagement is only three weeks away. Would you go ahead with the engagement if you were in my shoes, or would you cancel it just in case? I’m confused and I need your help!
