From a record-breaking transfer to the Premier League to a move into the famous Real Madrid system, Ghana’s latest generation made significant strides during a busy summer.
Here are the five biggest Ghanaian transfer stories of the 2026/27 season.
1.Caleb Yirenkyi — Nordsjælland to Coventry City
Caleb Yirenkyi’s move to Coventry City stands out as the biggest Ghanaian transfer of the summer.
The 20-year-old midfielder completed a club-record move from Danish side FC Nordsjælland to Coventry, with reports putting the fee at around £26 million.
2.Oscar Naasei — Granada to Real Madrid
Few transfers carried the prestige of Oscar Naasei’s move to Real Madrid.
The 21-year-old centre-back joined the Spanish giants from Granada in a deal reported at around €2 million, signing a three-year contract.
Naasei will initially play for Real Madrid Castilla, the club’s reserve side, giving him the opportunity to adapt to the demands of Spanish football while remaining within one of football’s most famous development systems.
3.Kojo Oppong Peprah — Nice to Fenerbahçe
Kojo Oppong Peprah also made one of the most significant moves of the summer, leaving French Ligue 1 side Nice for Turkish giants Fenerbahçe.
The 22-year-old centre-back signed a four-year contract in a transfer reportedly worth around €12 million.
4.Thomas Partey — Villarreal to Al-Shabab
Thomas Partey’s move was arguably the biggest Ghanaian transfer story in terms of profile.
After leaving Villarreal at the end of the 2025/26 season, the veteran midfielder joined Saudi Pro League side Al-Shabab as a free agent.
The 33-year-old signed a one-year contract with the Riyadh club.
5.Kwasi Sibo — Real Oviedo to Al-Swehly
Kwasi Sibo’s transfer generated perhaps the most debate among Ghanaian football fans.
The midfielder left Real Oviedo and subsequently joined Libyan champions Al-Swehly.
Sibo signed a two-year contract with an option for another year.
The move attracted considerable attention because Sibo had been linked with opportunities in other markets, including Turkey, before ultimately choosing the Libyan champions.
