Ahmed Ibrahim speaks after Mahama reshuffles him from Local Government Ministry
Minister of Works, Housing and Water Resources, Ahmed Ibrahim, has stated that he believes divine intervention played a role in his reassignment from the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.
Speaking during a handing-over ceremony on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, for his successor, Mahama Ayariga, Ahmed Ibrahim reflected on the events surrounding the reshuffle and said they had deepened his belief that his new assignment was guided by God.
He recalled that on the day the reshuffle was announced, he was delivering a sermon at the Global Evangelical Church when he received news of his reassignment.
According to him, he was handed a Bible while on the church’s pulpit, an occurrence he now considers significant given the presence of the Christian Council at the handing-over ceremony.
Ahmed Ibrahim said the Christian Council’s participation in the ceremony further strengthened his conviction that his transfer was not merely coincidental.
“I am happy and I know the hand of God is in my reshuffle. As I stated, on the 7th of August, I was on the Global Evangelical Church pulpit when the news came that I had been reshuffled, and I was given a Bible,” citinewsroom.com quoted him to have said.

His transfer was part of President John Mahama’s ministerial reshuffle announced on August 7, 2026, which saw him take over the Works, Housing and Water Resources portfolio.
