‘I’m not going to blame Yaw Ampofo’ – Ayitey Powers thanks God after court discharge
Former Ghanaian professional boxer Ayitey Powers has expressed gratitude to God following his discharge by the Dansoman Circuit Court after National Sports Authority (NSA) Director-General, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, withdrew the case against him.
Ayitey Powers, reflecting on the development, said he would not blame Ampofo Ankrah, himself, or God for what happened, stressing that his faith has been strengthened by the experience.
“I’m not going to blame Yaw Ampofo, I’m not going to blame myself or blame God. Whatever happens to me, I give thanks to Almighty God,” he said.
According to the former boxer, the incident has given him a deeper appreciation of God’s presence and love for him.
He explained that he never expected the situation to unfold the way it did, but believes the experience has ultimately brought him closer to God.
Ayitey Powers remanded for one week over alleged death threat
“What happened to me, let me get more faith in God,” Ayitey Powers stated.
He further revealed that his time in custody allowed him to discover several things which he believes are significant and promised to speak about them in the near future.
“Me going to the custody, God revealed a lot of things to me. And very soon, I will come out with it,” he added.
Ayitey Powers also thanked everyone who supported him during the difficult period, saying he was grateful for everything that had happened.
