'Please forgive Adobea' - Mother begs Ghanaians
The mother of popular child actress Adobea has appealed to Ghanaians to forgive her daughter while explaining the circumstances surrounding the viral video that appeared to show the young girl drinking alcohol.
Addressing the backlash, Adobea’s mother said the alcohol in question belonged to her and that after drinking it, she left the bottle on a table.
She explained that TikTok content creator Efya Gongon later said she wanted to shoot an educational video for YouTube, prompting Adobea to refill the empty bottle with water.
According to her, Efya Gongon does not drink alcohol, insisting that Adobea never consumed any alcoholic beverage either.
“The other day when we went out, I was the one drinking the alcohol and after drinking, I left the bottle on the table. Then Efya said she wanted to shoot content and post it on YouTube to educate the youth, so Adobea took it and poured water into it. Efya doesn’t even drink, and as for me, someone invited me and bought me that one bottle,” she said.
She admitted that allowing the child to hold an alcohol bottle was a mistake and acknowledged the public’s concerns over the incident.
“I am pleading with Ghanaians. She has no business as a child holding an alcohol bottle. It is not good. When you are wrong, you accept it, and you are our audience, which is why you showed concern. I am pleading with you to forgive Adobea. We know it won’t happen again. It is against the law. Please forgive her,” she added.
The video sparked widespread criticism on social media, with many users expressing concern over the child’s welfare and questioning the judgment of the adults present during the recording.
