Dear GhanaWeb: I paid GH¢10,000 to charm, control my married boyfriend

Dear GhanaWeb, I have been dating a married man for almost two years, and honestly, one of the biggest frustrations in this relationship is that I don't feel like I benefit from it in any way. This man has money, but when it comes to me, he suddenly becomes very stingy. He is always talking about his family and spending money on them, which I understand because they are his family. But sometimes, I look at the way he treats me and wonder why he is even with me. He comes to me whenever he wants intimacy, but he has never done anything significant for me. I work and take care of myself, so he seems to believe that I don't need anything from him. Meanwhile, I have seen other women dating married men who receive rent, allowances, gifts and other forms of support. Some are given money weekly or monthly. But in my case, the man comes to sleep with me in a room that I rented and paid for myself, then leaves without contributing anything meaningful. Whenever I complain, he makes promises. He will say he will do better or give me something, but nothing ever happens. After almost two years, I became frustrated. That was how I made one of the biggest mistakes of my life. Out of desperation, I went to see someone who claimed he could perform a “Do as I Say” charm. My intention was to make my boyfriend listen to me and give me money or whatever I asked him for. The man told me the charm would work perfectly. He charged me GH¢10,000 and assured me that I would benefit so much that I would even recommend other women to him. To convince me further, he made me speak to some women who claimed they had used similar charms on men and that it was working for them. I believed everything and I paid the GH¢10,000. After preparing the charm, he instructed me to use it in food for my boyfriend. So, I invited my married boyfriend over and cooked for him. I made sure the food was delicious. I spent my own money buying plenty of ingredients and meat because I wanted everything to go according to the instructions I had been given. Several times, I cooked for him and added the supposed charm to his food. By the time I was done, I had spent more than GH¢5,000 on cooking alone, but the man remained the same. He still didn't give me money. He still didn't fulfill his promises. He was still stingy towards me. The powder was almost finished when I finally became suspicious. One day, I decided to taste it myself. To my shock, it tasted like ordinary flour. I had paid GH¢10,000 for what now seemed like normal flour, and I had spent thousands of cedis more cooking special meals for a man who didn't even change. I immediately went back to confront the person who gave me the charm. Instead of admitting that he had deceived me, he blamed me. He said it was my fault and claimed I hadn't followed the instructions properly. But I know I did exactly what he told me to do. Now I feel completely foolish. At this point, I don't even know whether I should be angrier at the man who took my GH¢10,000 or at myself for believing him. How am I supposed to get my GH¢10,000 back? What do I do now? FG/EB
