Finance, research and communication key to NPP’s 2028 election victory - Dr Issahaku Tahiru Moomin
National Treasurer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Alhaji Issahaku Tahiru Moomin, says finance, research and effective communication will play a critical role in the party’s efforts to win the 2028 general elections.
According to him, the party needs adequate financial resources to support research and effective communication strategies aimed at mobilising votes.
He stressed the need for a professional and experienced person to manage the party’s finances.
Dr Moomin said the NPP’s finances are currently not in good standing and require restructuring.
He believes he has the requisite experience and capacity to develop programmes at the constituency level to empower various departments of the party, including Nasara, Research, Communications, Organisers, Youth and Women’s Organisers.
He has therefore appealed to delegates to give him the nod to serve as National Treasurer and enable him to execute his vision for the party.
Speaking to journalists after his vetting, Dr Moomin said he had worked as an accountant throughout his professional career, having studied Accounting at the senior high school and university levels before working as an accountant in various government institutions.
He disclosed that he had worked with the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department, the Ghana Health Service and the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).
He also served as a lecturer at the University for Development Studies (UDS).
Touching on his political experience, Dr Moomin said he served as the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Wa Central in the 2012 and 2016 general elections. He later served as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Wa Central from 2017 to 2024.
He added that his experience at the grassroots level of the party had given him valuable knowledge and equipped him with the qualities needed to effectively serve as National Treasurer.
Dr Moomin is therefore urging delegates to support his candidature, arguing that his professional background in accounting, public-service experience and political experience position him well to help restructure and strengthen the party’s finances ahead of the 2028 elections.
