Boakye Agyarko dismisses reports of rift with Dr Bawumia
New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Chairman aspirant, Boakye Agyarko, has dismissed reports of a strained relationship between him and former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, describing such claims as mischievous statements being circulated for personal interests.
Speaking to delegates in a video shared on Facebook, Agyarko said he maintained a cordial relationship with Dr Bawumia and had no disagreements with him.
“Don’t let anyone lie to you about my good relationship with Dr Bawumia. People are spreading mischievous statements for their personal interests,” he said.
According to him, his relationship with Dr Bawumia dates back to 2008, adding that the two had worked together over the years.
“I met Dr Bawumia in 2008 and worked with him throughout. We always embrace each other when we meet. I even spoke to him recently,” Agyarko said.
He accused some individuals of attempting to create divisions between the two politicians despite the absence of any disagreement.

“People are trying to manufacture problems whilst there is none. If you put division between Bawumia and I, what will you gain?” he asked.
Agyarko, who is seeking the support of delegates ahead of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential contest, said his primary focus was on securing victory for the party in the 2028 general election.
“For me, everything is about winning and making Bawumia President in 2028 and nothing else,” he said.
He reiterated that his political focus was firmly fixed on the 2028 election, describing it as his “last stop”.
“2028 is my last stop. For me, it’s about 2028 and nothing else,” he stressed.
