'Palpable falsehood' – Dr Ayew Afriye reacts to Owusu Bempah’s attack allegations

The Member of Parliament for Effiduase-Asokore, Dr Nana Ayew Afriye, has threatened to sue Rev. Isaac Owusu Bempah over alleged defamatory comments.

This follows a video circulating online in which Rev Owusu Bempah claimed that some bigwigs of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), including Dr Afriye, had incited some Muslim youth to attack his church.

In the video, the man of God alleged that some party leaders were mobilising youth from the Zongo wing of the party for the attack.

Reacting to the claims, Dr Afriye described them as “palpable falsehood”.

Speaking to journalists on Monday, he condemned the Reverend Minister for spreading falsehood and said he would sue him for defamation of character.

He called on the public to disregard the claims, noting that no such incident had occurred.

Dr Afriye emphasised the need for religious harmony, noting that Christians and Muslims must live in peace.

He added that he would never engage in any act that could disrupt the peace of Ghana.
