The Northern Regional Secretary of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Tanko Opash Bangbebu, has commended the Northern Regional Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alhaji Abdul Hamid Alhassan, popularly known as Chairman Gbewaa, for supporting members of his party.
Bangbebu said Alhaji Gbewaa had provided assistance to NDC members, particularly party communicators and serial callers in the Northern Region.
Speaking on the Neesim TV morning show, he said he had personally witnessed Alhaji Gbewaa supporting NDC members on several occasions.
He described the NDC Vice Chairman as “currently the helper and redeemer of NDC members in the region.”
Bangbebu said his comments were not politically motivated, stressing that he was not an NDC member.
“I am not an NDC member, but what Alhaji Gbewaa is doing for the NDC is worth commending,” he said.
Meanwhile, an NDC communicator, Nurudeen Weymah, who participated in the programme, said Alhaji Gbewaa had supported the party’s communicators and serial callers with logistics and financial assistance, including when the NDC was in opposition.
According to Weymah, the support contributed to the party’s communication efforts ahead of the 2024 general elections.
“He supports us with logistics and cash to speak for the party. In fact, we won the 2024 elections because of effective communication,” he said.
An NDC serial caller who also called into the programme claimed that Alhaji Gbewaa provides monthly stipends to groups of serial callers and selected communicators across the Northern Region.
“Chairman Gbewaa supported us, the serial callers of NDC in opposition and now that we are in government, we have been receiving monthly allowances and mobile phones from Alhaji Gbewaa,” the caller claimed.
He added that Alhaji Gbewaa also supports party members during social events, including weddings, naming ceremonies and funerals.
The comments highlight the role of party officials and individuals in supporting grassroots structures, particularly communicators and serial callers involved in political mobilisation and public communication.
