Jordan Ayew has completed a move to Sheffield United, with the Championship club confirming the Ghana captain’s arrival on a free transfer on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.
The 34-year-old joins the Blades after leaving Leicester City at the end of last season when his contract expired.
He has signed a one-year agreement with Sheffield United, marking his return to the Championship.
Ayew’s arrival gives manager Chris Wilder an experienced attacking option as the club looks to improve on a difficult beginning to the campaign.
Asante Twum reveals what Jordan said about his clubless situation
Sheffield United have managed just one victory from their opening five league matches.
Wilder expressed his delight at securing the former Leicester forward, highlighting the experience he brings to the squad.
“I spoke last week about being close to getting someone in from the free agent market and things did move quite quickly so I am really pleased to have Jordan with us. We’re talking about someone here with bags of experience from right at the top level of the game. Only a few months ago he was captaining Ghana in the World Cup, so he’s someone with real pedigree,” he said.
Jordan has spent more than a decade playing in England, featuring for Aston Villa, Swansea City, Crystal Palace and Leicester in the Premier League.
His experience and versatility could prove valuable as Sheffield United aim to climb the Championship table.
