Dear GhanaWeb: The car my brother gave me to start life has turned me into a womanizer
Dear GhanaWeb,
I have no intention of becoming a womanizer, but lately, I have been sleeping with too many women, and I honestly do not understand what is happening to me.
Everything started last year when my big brother gave me his Toyota Camry to work with.
He told me he was giving me the car so I could start life on my own. He said he wouldn't help me financially anymore because I had already made it clear that driving was what I wanted to do.
He told me to use the car to work hard, make money, and build something for myself. At the time, I was very happy and motivated. I promised myself that I would work hard and save enough money to buy more cars. My dream was to eventually give the cars out to other drivers to work with while they paid me, so I could become my own boss.
But things have not gone according to plan. Since I got the car, I haven't saved a single penny.
The funny thing is that I was not like this before I owned a car. Now, almost all the money I make somehow ends up being spent on women. I don't even understand it myself. I am always chasing one woman or the other.
Sometimes, I completely forget about working. Unless I become seriously broke, I don't feel motivated to go out and make money. The more I promise myself that I will stay away from women and focus on my work, the more I find myself chasing them.
At one point, I even allowed one girl to use my car, and she ended up crashing it. It took me a long time to get the car fixed.
Now, the car is back at the mechanic's shop again, and I don't even know where I am going to get money to repair it. My brother has already made it clear that I am supposed to stand on my own now, so I don't think he will come to my rescue.
Sometimes, I sit down and wonder whether there is something spiritually wrong with the car. Part of me even feels like my brother gave me this car to help me, but somehow, it is destroying my life instead.
My biggest fear is that once I fix this car, I will go right back to chasing women, giving free lifts, and spending all my money instead of working and saving.
I really want to change because this is not the life I planned for myself. What do I do now?
