'Sun Sherif' is a deconstruction of everything I stand on – Black Sherif
Ghanaian musician Black Sherif has opened up about the creative direction behind his latest EP, Sun Sherif, describing the project as a “deconstruction” of the elements that have defined his artistry.
Speaking in an interview on The Ebro Show on September 8, 2026, Black Sherif explained that his approach to the project was not necessarily about creating an entirely new identity but rather finding new ways to explore what he already represents as an artiste.
“Right now, I would say it’s like a deconstruction of everything Black Sherif stands on. It’s like to continue but not to create a new thing,” he said.
According to the musician, the creative approach was also inspired by his desire to make the music-making process exciting and challenging for himself.
He explained that he needed to find ways to remain deeply interested in the process because making music requires a certain level of obsession and dedication to produce a large body of work.

“The deconstruction is the design approach, and I think it’s really for me to be honest. I have to find a way to get myself, to get the music making very interesting for me,” he stated.
Black Sherif mentioned that when he is in the right mood, he can become obsessed with creating music, sometimes working on as many as 15 to 20 songs or demos.
“I believe that’s like a way to keep me a nerd about this thing because when I’m making music and when I’m in the mood to get some 20 songs or 15 demos, there’s a type of obsession that I need to chase the music to be able to get that,” he shared.
He noted that this mindset informed his creative approach to SUN SHERIF, as he continues to find ways to challenge himself and maintain his passion for music.
“This time, that is my approach,” Black Sherif added.
