Father commits suicide over son’s SHS prospectus expenses in Gusheigu
A middle-aged man, identified as Alhaji Abdulai, has allegedly taken his own life at Macheleyili, a farming community in Kpatinga within the Gusheigu Municipality of the Northern Region, following mounting financial stress over his son’s senior high school admission.
According to community sources, the deceased had been in high distress over his inability to secure the necessary funds to purchase mandatory school items required for his son’s enrolment.
Residents revealed that in the days leading up to the tragic incident, Alhaji Abdulai repeatedly voiced deep frustration regarding the financial burden of purchasing the mandatory prospectus items for the school where his son had been placed.
The sudden death has thrown the entire Macheleyili community into mourning, leaving family members and neighbours devastated as local authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
This has since raised concerns over free SHS mandatory prospectus items required by senior high school authorities during registration and how government can improve those conditions
