President Mahama to cut sod for three 160-bed regional hospitals - Kwakye Ofosu
President John Dramani Mahama is expected to cut the sod in the coming weeks for the construction of three 160-bed Regional Referral Hospitals in the Oti, Savannah and Western North Regions.
Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, announced this in a post on X on September 22, 2026, describing the projects as part of efforts to improve healthcare delivery in Ghana.

“As part of a broader strategy to improve healthcare in Ghana, President Mahama will cut the sod in the coming weeks for three 160-Bed Regional Referral Hospitals in the Oti, Savannah, and Western North Regions,” he stated.
Ofosu also shared an architectural design of the proposed hospital for the Oti Region, giving the public a glimpse of what the facility is expected to look like.
The three facilities are expected to serve as Regional Referral Hospitals, providing additional capacity for healthcare delivery in the Oti, Savannah and Western North regions.
The announcement forms part of the government’s broader plans to expand healthcare infrastructure and improve access to medical services across the country.
Sharing the design of the Oti facility, Mr Ofosu added: “Here is the design for the one in Oti.”
The planned projects come at a time when the government is highlighting investments in critical infrastructure as part of its efforts to improve public services.
Details on the estimated cost, contractors and specific timelines for completion of the three hospitals were not provided in Kwakye Ofosu’s post.
