Ghana Jollof Case: ‘Salomey Baffoe never received money from account operator’ – Lawyer
Lawyer for Salomey Awity Baffoe, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, has dismissed allegations that his client received money from the person allegedly behind the “Ghana Jollof” TikTok account.
According to him, Salomey Baffoe has neither been paid to recruit people nor provided funds to individuals to assist with the activities associated with the account.
Speaking on Citi FM on September 22, 2026, Baffour Awuah maintained that his client had no financial involvement in the alleged operation.
“My client has never received money to recruit anybody or has never given money to anybody to recruit someone,” he said.
The lawyer’s response comes after the Ghana Police Service alleged that Barbara Asantewaa Kodua, whom the Police identify as the operator of the “Ghana Jollof” TikTok account, sent money to Baffoe in Ghana to facilitate the production, publication and distribution of online content.

The Police further alleged that Baffoe subsequently shared portions of the money with other people who helped circulate videos produced by Kodua on various social media platforms.
Authorities said their allegations were based on evidence obtained during forensic examinations of Baffoe’s mobile phone, including audio and video files, as well as mobile money transaction records.
However, Baffour Awuah has challenged the credibility of some of the information disclosed by the Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), COP Lydia Donkor, at a press briefing on the matter.
“The CID Director General came out and then did a press conference and put out certain information. I want to say that that information is doubtful in nature,” he said.
The lawyer also sought to distance his client from the identity associated with the “Ghana Jollof” account, saying Baffoe did not know anyone by the name “Jollof”.
He said he would not speculate about who operates the account and would instead focus on the specific allegations levelled against his client.
“So let me say this here, my client has never known anybody called Jollof. You don’t have to know by that name. You can know the person by their real name,” he said.
Salomey Baffoe has been charged with abetment of crime, specifically the publication of false news.
She has pleaded not guilty to the charge and was subsequently remanded by the Adentan Circuit Court.
She is expected to return to court on September 30, 2026, as the Police continue their investigations into the case.
