Forget FIFA, step in to reform our football – MP tells President Mahama
The Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, has called on President John Dramani Mahama to take decisive action to reform football administration in the country.
According to him, the current Ghana Football Association (GFA) has underperformed significantly and needs to be overhauled to allow competent individuals to manage its affairs.
The Manhyia South MP pointed out that the poor performances of the various national teams, especially the failure to qualify for major competitions and the team's abysmal showing in recent years, are evidence of the association's shortcomings.

Baffour Awuah, in an interview with Citi FM, called on the government to set aside concerns about FIFA and intervene to reform the country's football administration, citing the recent mass withdrawals from the Black Stars squad.
"We failed to qualify for AFCON; we went to the World Cup and returned, and there is no plan for us to qualify for the next AFCON. Players were excluded until others withdrew, and that was when they were recalled. Our football is dead, even youth football. First of all, I think the government should step in; we need to reform our football. Forget about FIFA.
"It is only in Ghana that they threaten us with FIFA. Other associations are doing well with stakeholders, but ours has been hijacked by a cabal. The president should step in. Ghana cannot continue to fund these people," he said.
This comes as pressure mounts on the GFA, with standards in Ghana football declining and the president having raised similar concerns in the past.
